Weekend Recap & Phone photo dump

Is it really already Tuesday?  What a fun last 4 days we had around here!  I’m spent!!  I have a camera full of photos to edit, but zero motivation to actually do so.  For now, here is an update from our weekend with a whole bunch of iPhone photos.

Friday we went to Tanaka Farms with some friends and did a tractor tour and strawberry picking.  The kids had an awesome time eating freshly picked veggies and shoving as many strawberries into their mouth as they could in 10 minutes.  It was such a great way to spend the day!  Nathan was double fisting strawberries, and Shane was picking the rotten strawberries off the ground to eat…both techniques kept them busy, happy and full.

Saturday morning I normally head to Turbo kick while Greg gets Nathan ready for his swim lesson.  I did make it to the gym, but when I got home we decided to skip out on his class.  Our town was having their community garage sale and everyone was out and about either selling, buying or trading things.  We brought some items over to our neighbor’s sale just to clear some clutter from our garage.  Although we cleared out a few items, I came home after running some errands to find a full monkey costume hanging in our garage….yes, A MONKEY SUIT!!  Thanks Greg, that was totally a practical purchase! ;)

Nathan and I took off to a birthday party after the garage sales, spent a few hours there, then came home to get the boys ready for a night home with a sitter.  Greg and I had a long overdue date night and went out to our favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach.  We totally indulged in some amazing food and I possibly had a few too many Cucumber Cooler Martinis….oops!  We had such a great time.

Sunday I skipped out on my morning run (I swear it wasn’t because of the above mentioned cocktails), and Greg met up with the guys for their run. I actually didn’t run because I was getting everything together to host a Stella & Dot Party with some of my girlfriends.  I have never hosted one before, but LOVE throwing parties so I thought it would be fun to have one.  I made a bunch of fun food, including this cheeseball recipe that everyone kept asking about.  If you have a party…YOU.MUST.MAKE.THIS!  I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a cheeseball before, let alone make one, but this is the one to try!

There were about 15 of us, 20 bottles of champagne and a house full of jewelry that we got to play with.  Totally a dangerous combination but so much fun!

If you ever want to order some Stella & Dot jewelry, or host your own party, Corrine is your girl!  She lives in the Los Angeles area but will travel to all parts of Southern California if you are local and would like to have one too.  When you host a party you get some freebies that come your way so it’s definitely worth organizing one!  I finally narrowed down the pieces I’m adding to my collection.  I can’t wait for them to get here!

The best part of this whole weekend?  It didn’t have to end quite yet because Greg decided to take Monday off!  It was such a treat to have him home so we decided to really take advantage of it and drive down to the San Diego zoo.

The boys had such a great time and were totally in awe of everything they saw.  Nathan was most impressed by the animals he sees in movies like the Lion King and Kung Fu Panda.  He also was on the hunt for “baby dragons” and dinosaurs.  Although we couldn’t find those for him, he was more than happy to get his face painted like one.  Shane was laughing, pointing, and making animal noises the entire time. It was one of those days you find yourself constantly thinking “THIS is what it’s all about”!

Today, the house is a mess, the dishes are piled high in the sink, there is laundry to be done and bills to be paid…although we didn’t get much done in the way of productivity this weekend, we sure had a fun one!  I hope you all had an amazing weekend too! xo

What fun!! Sounds like the perfect weekend.

I’ve always wanted to go to a Stella & Dot party – I keep having to miss the ones friends’ have around these parts. You have picked some great pieces – I’m sure they will look fabulous. I feel like whenever I compliment a friend’s accessories, they are always S&D.

And thanks for the cheeseball recipe! I have one that I just started making a year or so ago and it has Ranch dressing in it too – and it’s delicious. You roll it in bacon bits instead of nuts but I am super tempted to try yours also. Definitely going to pin it.

Ummm bacon bits?? That sounds SO good!

You should definitely try and make it to a S&D party if one comes your way again. I have always been skeptical of those in-home parties, only because I never wanted to feel pressured if I didn’t like anything. The opposite happened with S&D, I had to cut myself off haha.
